Mayor of New York

Michael Bloomberg served three consecutive terms as Mayor of New York, after succeeding Rudy Giuliani on 1 January 2002. (The election was on 6 November 2001 – 58 days after 9/11; Giuliani was unable to run again due to term limits.)

Since at least 2009, Bloomberg has consistently been rated as one of the world's richest men. In February 2018 he was 7th richest in the USA and 10th richest in the world.
